LIVING IN TRANSPARENCY
About a year ago, I decided to live a transparent life style with a close circle of friends’ support. Truth be told, prior to this moment, I was missing out on the joys that come from experiencing life, and letting go of fear of people’s perception. The back and forth battle of “what-ifs”. That uncomfortable feeling of revealing that I had imperfections, and the willingness to completely share that was terrifying. I identified with the sense of shame that many people attach to dealing with abuse. You know, the, “Oh no, I’m fine” remark that has become your tagline, regardless of how traumatic something is.

The loss of my son, prime example of feeling like life has given you too large a problem to work beyond, and there aren’t words eloquent enough to provide comfort. In the same breath I didn’t want people’s pity. Pity and shame aren’t ideal accessories when you’re attempting to be fabulous. When considering the natural ups and downs of life I decided, I wasn’t going to trip and stumble. Instead, I would grow! Don’t be fooled, there was a lot of moments where I cried out and prayed out. I still do to this day, but you can still be worthy in these vulnerable moments. Reaching out to a relative, a friend, and even a counselor can help promote healing. Like the brilliant Tina Lifford told me once, “Life is happening and its bumping into life.” and we just have to have faith to know that we are prepared and we will pull through it!

YOUR STORY
YOUR MEMORIES
What I want each of you to take away from this is that we have a responsibility to share our stories. Remembering that the best stories usually make you cry, but also make you laugh and smile. These emotions are necessary, and make for an incredible story, so allow yourself to feel again, and just keep talking. When life strips you of the familiar it is up to you to make a choice, and from there, you can decide what you will do with the opportunity.
Get excited for anything coming your way, and to
